Accomplice Committee

Project VOYCE’s Accomplice Committee is a group of parents, donors, & community partners, and Project VOYCE ambassadors who have acknowledged that Privilege is having the option of opting out/not having to notice inequalities in the world. The people who you will meet today are named accomplices because they are people who have consistently chosen to opt-in, and who continue to work for our shared liberation.

During our first meeting in March, we shared an opportunity to engage in PV’s Diversity Icebreaker activity, in order to learn more about what is beneath the surface for our Accomplice members. We laughed and spoke about the many moments that have led us to a desire to give back and continue to work towards a more just and equitable world.. Together we are excited to continue to advocate for the young people in our community and find ways to continue to elevate their voices. Meet our members through their own words.

Astrid Flores

I am Astrid Flores (She/Ella) Stakeholder Manager and Fundraising Lead at Project VOYCE. I am currently a student at CU Denver and have been involved with project VOYCE since my sophomore year of highschool! I am incredibly excited to be the lead of the first-ever cohort of the Accomplice Committee. Given my commitment to ensuring that young people have a seat at the table, I am incredibly grateful to have a team that is just as passionate about elevating youth voices as I am.

Joe Dorn

My name is Joe Dorn (he/him pronouns) and I'm excited about supporting Project VOYCE because I believe in the value of empowering youth to have a positive impact in their own communities and create change that will benefit their own lives and for the lives of future generations.  I want to learn more about youth development that centers on root causes, rather than band-aids, and I hope to support Project VOYCE going forward.

I am inspired and motivated by Project VOYCE's mission to change decision-making processes to be truly representative and inclusive especially of youth from historically marginalized communities. The model of providing the language, knowledge, and tools to youth to drive this change is so powerful - to support young people to be the agents of change in the exact institutions that have excluded them. I have chosen to be a part of it as a member of the Accomplice Committee because I believe in the vision Project VOYCE is advancing and hope more people are aware of, learn from, and replicate the work of Project VOYCE.

Kayvan Khalatbari

Hi, I'm Kayvan Khalatbari, tenyard entrepreneur and advocate for a shared economy and for housing as a human right. I’ve supported Project VOYCE for several years now, personally and via my business Sexy Pizza, because I believe there is no greater resource in this world than young people. I've seen Project VOYCE develop tremendous student leaders and I joined on as an accomplice to do what I can to empower that further.

I am honored to renew my commitment with Project VOYCE as a leader on the Accomplice Committee. PV has a special place in my heart because of its role in supporting displaced Manual students like myself during our transition in the wake of our high school closure. Since then, PV has morphed into the premier organization in training young revolutionaries to carry the baton of intersectional justice now and well into the future. I am so excited to support our young people in creating change in this new capacity!
