Board Members

Jonathan Marenus

Jonathan (he/him) is a healthcare attorney who works with early-stage medical technology companies in Denver. Originally a New York native, he attended New York University and Benjamin Cardozo School of Law before beginning his legal career working with a variety of startups. Jonathan moved out to Denver in late 2014 to start a new adventure in his life and is extremely excited to participate in the good works that Project VOYCE brings to the community and Denver at large.

Brian Lightfoot 

Brian (he/him) is currently a Ph.D. student in the Education Foundations, Policy, and Practice program at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research is focused on developing equitable education policies, practices, and institutions. His published work discusses charter school policy, student activism, and teacher preparation. Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., he worked in advocacy and community engagement in Denver. A proud HBCU alum, Brian received his B.A in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University. In addition to his research, he works as a consultant for philanthropic foundations, youth organizations, and charter management companies.

Kathryn Wiley 

Kathryn Wiley (she/hers) is a writer, teacher, researcher, and advocate who is passionate about racial and economic justice. She's spent much of her career working on education justice issues here in Denver, with a focus on dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline. You can find her teaching and researching on university campuses and digging around Denver Public Library's historical archives. She spends her free time writing cliché poetry, spoiling her dog, and hiking.

Ashlee Wedgeworth

Ashlee Wedgeworth (she/her) is a manager at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare. She received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2007 and her master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver in 2010. Ashlee specializes in substance use assessment and treatment and is currently a licensed addictions counselor (LAC) with the state of Colorado and recognized nationally as a master addictions counselor (MAC). Ashlee has 4 children and is committed to shaping and inspiring them to be leaders in their community. Her proudest moments are giving back to the very community that she grew up in, alongside her children. In May 2018 she completed the Colorado Family Leadership Training Institute with her children. Ashlee is actively involved in the schools that her children attend and helped to organize and form a student council at her oldest daughter’s middle school. 

Ashlee is passionate about community, service, and making an impact. She often supports her community by organizing and participating in collection drives, fundraisers and various service projects that will serve those who may be economically disadvantaged.

Sarah Lake

Sarah Lake (she/hers) is an activist and climate leader dedicated to creating a more just and equitable future. Her career has centered on campaigning against major corporations for their role in climate change, particularly around deforestation and indigenous land rights, and she recently founded a non-profit focused on sustainable and ethical food system transitions. In Denver, she is passionate about supporting the unhoused community and advocating for more equitable development in the city. She spends her free time enjoying local parks with her son, cooking and uncovering hidden corners of Denver's art scene.


Britt Bowman

Britt Bowman (she/hers) is a marketing tech director, leadership coach, and early-in-career mentor, who is passionate about opening doors for all young people to enter a workforce and society, which encourages and embraces divergent thinking and innovative ideas. You can generally find Britt with her husband, daughter, and 2 dogs exploring the Denver metro. She spends her free time reading, building Lego sets, and getting in as much family time as she can.
